Food for Growing Boys
Someone asked me recently, "Just how much does it cost to feed your boys at Texas Boys Ranch?" I know what our annual budget for groceries looks like, but I never really thought about how much food we consume. This year, my houseparents will prepare food and serve more than 30,000 individual meals to our boys. That number is startling, but the math is really quite simple. Each boy eats three meals a day. (We have a few boys that consume enough food to equal five or six meals a day.) There are 365 days in a year and we have around 30 – 32 boys in care. Amazing, isn’t it…just how quickly it all adds up. Do you want to know something even more amazing? We will feed them for less than $1.50 per meal for each boy.
Your faithful support ensures that food is never scarce at Texas Boys Ranch. This is the time of year that we seek your help to meet our grocery budget for 2008. As you can see, we make every dollar count. We may even have enough money left over to treat our boys to a meal at a nice restaurant or an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen from time to time.

I thank God daily for the work that He is doing through the selfless acts of my amazing staff and the financial support of all who love children.
