Coins for Cowboys

Many churces are collecting "Coins for Cowboys" to help the boys at Texas Boys Ranch.  This is a Sunday set aside to collect pocket change (and folding money) for the boys at Texas Boys Ranch. We hope your congregation will consider participating this year.

Some suggestions for you to discuss with your leadership:

  • This is an easy way to allow families to share with those less blesses
  • Your theme that Sunday could be “western” (i.e., western dress, BBQ, or other cowboy activities) making it a fun day
  • Families can use this opportunity to teach children about giving and compassion as they save their pocket change for a few weeks prior to the collection
  • It is not a burden to anyone since we are emphasizing “coins”
  • A lot from a little – as each family gives a little change, the total accumulation from many churches is a lot
  • Texas Boys Ranch is a local mission field

Other churches are using Vacation Bible School mission collections to donate to Texas Boys Ranch. The children learn about the work at the Ranch and feel good about helping someone nearby.

Raising a child is expensive. Providing housing, house parents, food, clothing, education, counseling and training for 32 boys is very costly. The Christian community in our area has been generous in helping us meet the expenses.
